Personal Statement

October 2008, I joined the Novi Sturgeons Swim Team. Little did I know, I had just made the best decision of my life.  

Swimming has not only kept me in shape physically, it has taught me valuable life lessons, such as: time management, focus, determination, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship. It has also given me a second family ­­-- my teammates. When I joined the Novi High School swim team my freshman year, the senior captains that I looked up to committed to swim for their respective colleges. Prior to that, I had never known anyone personally that competed at that level. Since then it has been a dream of mine to swim in college. I wish to continue my swimming career in college because I love the sport, I love competing, and I will be honored to represent my college in the pool. It will also give me the opportunity to build lifelong friendships with my teammates and improve my technique with collegiate-level coaches.

I am a good candidate for college swimming because I set goals and achieve them. I am extremely hard working both in and out of the pool. I maintained a high GPA, and continued to push myself  with IB/AP classed throughout my high school career.
