Carlton Jeffery Jenkins – Metropolitan Funeral
Carlton Jeffery “Gino” Jenkins transitioned from earth to his heavenly reward at home surrounded by his loving family on March 22, 2023. No more suffering, no pain, free at last.
Carlton was born in Windsor, North Carolina to the late Seclephas and Eather Jenkins on July 23, 1948. He is also preceded by his brother, Joseph Ray Jenkins.
His working career started with Carolina Masonry, and then IBM and he retired from ILA 1970 Longshoreman.
He is an IC Norcom Alumni and a graduate of Norfolk State University.
He was a Past Master of Truxton -Doric-Ionic #91, PHGLVA, Past High Priest of Truxton-Mt.Morich #9 Holy Royal Arch, Eminent Commander Antioch #7 Knights Templar, and Honorary Past Potentate of Arabia Temple #12, a charter member of Arabia Temple #12 Three Wheelers; where he served as Vice-President.
He also served on the Board of Directors for Tidewater Youth Golf for over 20 years.
Carlton had a huge heart and lived by the creed that “blood is not the only thing that makes you family, spirit does.” This was so obvious by all those he took under his wings.
Carlton is survived by his loving wife, caregiver and life partner of 54 years, Margaret; sister, Jennettee (Eather) White (Bobby) and brother, Alvin Jenkins (Pat); his adopted loves; Felicia Earl Omole (Dele), Ellen Robinson and Mardi Truitt Spivey (Damon). He also leaves to cherish his memory, the Love of his Life his “Sunshine” Julia Truitt Spivey; grand loves, Nailah Thompson,Nigel Robinson, Nyles Robinson and Shaiyan Spivey; aunt, Clarice Ward, King Mountain, NC.; uncle, Gurnie Jenkins (Mary) Ahoskie, NC; sisters in-law, Kathy Jenkins, Margery Davis (Steven) and Tamesha Hatten Saunders; brothers in-law, Gentry Hatten (Rosemary) and Alton Hatten Jr. (Evelyn); mother in-law, Ophelia Hatten.
Carlton is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Nykeeya Stewart (Winston), Jessica McGlothen (Roosevelt), Ryan Hatten, Stephen White Jr. (Carla), Shawron White (LaToya), Katherine Jenkins, Alise Lindsey (Leonard), Lynette Holley, Aaron Jones and Jeffery Hatten (Jasmaine); special friends, Mary & Willie Packer, Cornell Ballard, Stella Harris, James Fitzgerald (Skip), Nathaniel Johnson, Billy Thompson, Linda Tucci, Jeff Blauch, Marnie Stevens, Ellsworth Mayfield and Marlena Bustamante. A host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and a host of friends.
