The police video from New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave's arrest for reckless driving on Monday night has been released by TMZ:
TMZ Sports @TMZ_SportsDuring his arrest on Monday, New Orleans Saints superstar #ChrisOlave name-dropped his NFL employer ... but police video shows the cop really didn't care.
In the video, Olave was told by the arresting officer that he was stopped for driving 70 mph in a 30 mph zone. The second-year wideout appeared to express remorse for his speeding, saying: "That's on me. I was just trying to get home."
When the officer informed him he was being arrested, Olave said, "My bad, dawg," before adding, "I play for the Saints, man." However, his status as an NFL star meant nothing to the officer, who replied, "And?"
Per TMZ, Olave was stopped by a Kenner Police Dept. officer at around 9 p.m. local time in Louisiana. He was booked on a charge of reckless operation of a motor vehicle before being released from custody at 11:30 p.m.
This is the second recent speeding incident for Olave, as police stated he was ticketed for driving 54 mph in a 35 mph zone in August. After Monday's arrest, Olave's brother Josh wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, that the receiver "was on the way back to the crib from CVS... aint nun serious."
Olave has picked up where he left off from an impressive rookie season. Through seven games, the 23-year-old leads New Orleans with 39 catches and 471 yards while adding one touchdown.
The Saints said they were aware of the situation but they didn't have a comment. The team will be back in action on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts.
