Doug Kaplan's Men's Tennis Recruiting Profile

Personal Statement

I am a 16 year old tennis player from Pelham, New York. I am 6'0, 140 pounds, and have great speed. I'm on the young side for my grade(and therefore play both 16s and 18s). I am very focused and know that I can and want to play college tennis. My ranking (42 in the east; two star on TN) is good but I know that I can and will do much better. Some of my recent accomplishments include: August 201 B18U Fairview Champs L1 Doubles Winner; July 2011: B18U Huntington L1 Finalist, B18U Cedarbrook Summer Champs L1 Doubles Winner; June 2011 B16U Maywood Sectional Doubles Finalist; April 2011: L1B Sportime Kings Park, NY. 18U Singles Winner; Level 4 National Mount Kisco, NY. 16U Doubles Winner ; January 2011: L5 National Glen Cove, NY. 18U Doubles Winner;  January 2011: L1B Mount Kisco, NY. 18U Singles Winner; December 2010: L1 Mendham, NJ. 18U Doubles Winner;  September 2010: L1 Mendham, NJ. 16U Doubles Winner;  August 2010: L1 Harlem, NY. 16U Singles Finalist;  July 2010: L1 Long Beach, NY. 18U Doubles Winner ; July 2010: L1 Maywood, NJ. 16U Singles Finalist ; Summer 2010: New York Athletic Club Men's Doubles Champion;  Summer 2010: New York Athletic Club Men's Singles Finalist (losing in 3 sets to recent Columbia #1 singles player);  Summer 2010: Metropolitan Interclub Tennis League 16U Champion (Westchester county);  Spring 2010:Varsity tennis all league and all section Pelham Memorial High School Athlete of the Week since freshmen year (2009 and 2010) ; Summer 2008: NYAC Men's Open Singles Champion (at age 13, youngest winner ever).
I have been playing tennis since I was 8 and have represented my club (the NYAC) in numerous tournaments and Pro/Am events for several years. I am a great leader but am also a great team player. I have a good work ethic in my academic and athletic lives. I like the east coast but am open to any school that can provide a good academic as well as tennis experience. While I'm not sure of my future major, some possible majors would be Sports and Fitness Management, Psychology, Business Management, and Marketing. I would love to start playing tennis as a freshman and make a positive impact from the day I join to the day I graduate.
