Eartha Kitt was an American actress, singer, dancer, stand-up comedian, cabaret star, and voice artist. She began her career in 1943 with the Katherine Dunham Company and starred in the original Broadway production of Carib Song in 1945. Kitt was known for her recordings of “C’est Si Bon” and “Santa Baby”.
As an actress, Kitt starred in the TV series Batman as The Catwoman from 1967 to 1968. She was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for her role in the TV series I Spy in 1965. Kitt also won a Daytime Emmy Award for providing the voice of Cool Cat in the series The Wonder Pets in 2009.
Kitt was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960 at 6656 Hollywood Blvd. She passed away on December 25, 2008, at the age of 81.
