Firefighter Terry Tackett Died In Car Crash Accident On Parkway East Near The Squirrel Hill Tunnel

Terry Tackett, 32, was identified by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office on Thursday as the man who died in a crash the day before on the Parkway East.

After the crash occurred around 6:20 a.m. Wednesday in the outbound lanes of the Parkway East near the Squirrel Hill Tunnel, Tackett was taken to UPMC Mercy in Uptown. He died shortly after 7 a.m., the medical examiner’s office said.

Three vehicles, including a tractor-trailer, were involved in the crash as traffic was slowed by an overturned vehicle.

Tackett served at the Presto Volunteer Fire Department, but the department declined to comment further, citing the family’s privacy.
