The 19-year-old girl attended the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare hotel in Rosemont, Illinois, alongside her friends for a party, on September 8, 2017. However, later that night, her friend sound her missing out on the place.
Her friends searched the entire hotel, but they found Kenneka nowhere. At 5:30 a.m Kenneka’s mother arrived at the hotel to pick up her daughter, but she was told that she was missing.
Her mother went onto every floor to search for her daughter, but she couldn’t find her. She asked the hotel manager to let her see the video footage, but he refused as he asked for the missing report to be filed first.
Hotel management called 911 for the search, but the police refused to file the missing report as the report can only be filed if the child doesn’t return in twenty-four hours.
On September 9, twenty-four hours had passed, so the police began their search. They first checked the footage, but they couldn’t find her. The camera footage at 3:20 a.m showed that Kenneka was stumbling to walk down the hallway.
But this didn’t prove where she was. At 12:48 a.m, her dead body was discovered in the kitchen’s freezer. The police captured the photos but didn’t share them until the case was over.

Kenneka Jenkins’s death had loopholes that led the family to suspect the hotel. Her family filed a case against the hotel for killing their daughter.
The family’s attorney said that these pictures captured show that Kenneka was locked inside the freezer. In the footage, it is unsure who had locked the freezer’s door while Kenneka was inside.
The freezer was located in the camera’s blind spot. The prosecutor said that the freezer was not working and its light was closed. But, when her dead body was found inside, the freezer was plugged on, and the temperature inside the freezer was less than 1 Degree.
Traces of Topiramate were found inside her system. This is a drug mostly used to deal with migraine and epilepsy. She was drunk, and the traces found in her body caused hypothermia to increase rapidly.
After the case had ended, the police released Kenneka Jenkins’s death scene photos. In the photos, it can be seen that her head and face are lying on the ground.
She is only wearing one shoe, a pink lip gloss tube, and a black hair tie flanking her body. As per the photo, it can be observed that there’s a minor scratch on her right foot. Her other pair of shoes lay far away from her body.
