Google Translate Launches Handwriting Feature

TEMPO.CO, California - Google Translate is now equipped with a Google Translate 'handwriting input', a new feature that allows its users to translate handwritings. The feature currently supports 45 languages and will enable users to translate a written expression even if they do not know how to type it on keyboard.

For instance, if a user wants to know the meaning of a particular letter in Chinese, the user will have to click on the Chinese menu and choose the pencil icon to activate the handwriting feature. The user will then only need to draw out the character on the main panel of the handwriting and have Google Translate define the word.

Previously, Google has launched the handwriting input feature for Android devices in December 2012. In early this year, the company updated its Google Input Tools for the desktop by adding new virtual keyboards, input method editors, and transliteration input tools. Google announced its new handwriting input feature yesterday, July 24 as reported by the site The Next Web.

It is not surprising that Google first launched the new feature on Android since it is highly suitable for users with high mobile activities.
