Grant Brace Obituary & Cause Of Death

Grant Brace obituary details were shared by his family.

Grant Frederick Brace, a 20-year-old from Tennessee, passed away unexpectedly on August 31, 2020, while studying at The University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Kentucky.

Kentucky university has promised to give 14 million dollars to the family of a wrestler who died of heat stroke after begging for water during training.

Grant was a talented athlete who graduated from Alcoa High School in 2018, where he excelled in football and wrestling. 

He won three state championships in football and had a high school wrestling record of 128 wins and 33 losses, earning him three Tennessee State placings.

After graduation, Grant was offered a scholarship to attend the university of the Cumberlands, where he continued to pursue his passion for wrestling. 

He had three falls during his time there, including one in the 2018 Patriot Open, and won his last match with a 13-5 major decision against Keiser University.

Grant was also known for his love of God and his family, and he always lent a helping hand to those in need. 

He enjoyed outdoor activities such as snowboarding, jet skiing, and spending time with his dog, Titan. 

He was a member of Sevier Heights Baptist Church. His grandparents, Terrell, Betty Brace, and Mary Lou Foster, preceded Grant in death. 

He is survived by his parents, Kyle and Jackie Brace; his sister and brother-in-law, Kaylee and Sam Wagnon, his grandfather, Bobby Foster, several aunts, uncles, and cousins, and his beloved dog, Titan.

Visitation was held on Saturday, September 5, 2020, from 2:00-4:00 pm EST at Sevier Heights Baptist Church in Knoxville, TN. 

A Celebration of Life service was followed at 4 pm EST, officiated by Pastor Doug Adams and Pastor Andy Langston.

Grant was laid to rest on Sunday, September 6, 2020, at 1 pm CST at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens in Mt. Juliet, TN. 

Pallbearers included Sam Wagnon, Kerry Brace, Dalton Steele, Johnny Steele, Wade Johnson, and Brian Gossett, with Chris Fry and Chris Stamberger serving as honorary pallbearers. 

Family and friends were invited to gather afterward at Team Faith Racing Ministry in Mt. Juliet, TN.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway, Knoxville, Tennessee 37920.
