Hendropriyono Set to Aid Jokowi from Outside Palace
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former National Intelligence Agency (BIN) chief Gen. (ret.) A. M. Hendropriyono said he was ready to help President Joko Widodo if asked and that assisting the president did not have to be done from inside the Presidential Palace.
“Helping the president can also be done from outside of the palace,” said Hendro after meeting President Jokowi at the Presidential Palace on Monday.
However, there has been no offer yet from Jokowi for Hendropriyono to help the government.
According to Hendro, Indonesia has many high-quality and young human resources. He said Jokowi should make use of those resources and refrain from opting old figures, such as him. “It is time for these young people to participate in helping Jokowi lead our nation,” said Hendro.
Brig. Gen. Andika Perkasa, Hendropriyono’s son-in-law, is currently serving as the commander of the Presidential Security Detail (Paspampres), while Diaz Hendropriyono, Hendropriyono’s son, is a commisioner at state-owned telecommunication company PT Telkomsel.
