Holly Detwiler's Women's Lacrosse Recruiting Profile
Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Holly Detwiler and I live in York, Pennsylvania. I have been passionate about lacrosse since my first days playing in 5th grade with West York K9 Lacrosse. I have played competitively every season offered. On 3/26/17, I was named one of only four Junior Midfielders to watch in York County in GameTimePA.com. I was the only Freshman picked to play Varsity Lacrosse for West York Area High School and won the "2015 Rookie of the Year Award" and in 2016 won the "Most Improved Player of the Year Award". I helped out the Junior Varsity team Spring 2015 as well playing two games back to back each time. When there was a break Freshman and Sophomore year, I ran for the West York High School Cross Country team to keep myself in shape. I was also on a Gymnastic competition team until June, 2013 and now work Part-Time coaching younger children at Skyline Gymnastics. I start as Midfielder for West York HS Varsity team, Winter Club Lady Bulldogs team, Summer York Invaders Club 2018 Silver team, Winter York Crusaders Club Indoor team, Fall York Invaders Black 2018 Club. Summer of 2015, I played as #24 on the York Invader Black 2018/2019 team as Midfield/Defense as that was the starting position they needed filled. I am an exceptional team player and have a lot of heart for the game of Lacrosse. I play aggressively on the field and am determined to take my skills to the next level. My best friends are on my team and we encourage each other on and off the field. I am a team player who is always on the lookout for which teammate has the best shot at the goal, I will take the shot if I feel I have the best chance. Playing Midfield, I am always looking to stop my opponent before they make it down the field. I am adaptable, focused, and determined. I became certified January, 2017 as a US Lacrosse Youth Official to ref for the YGLC Youth League. I organized and hosted a Boys vs Girls Charity Lacrosse Game May, 2017 at West York Area High School to benefit the American Cancer Society. I received the Academic Medallion Award 5/23/16 and Lamp of Learning Academic Achievement Award-Teacher Nominated Outstanding Effort 5/23/16. I was elected Treasurer of my 2018 High School class and to Student Council. I continue to be an Honor Roll student and work hard to maintain a high GPA. On my report cards (uploaded to this site), teachers say I work hard and am prepared, do superior work, am actively involved in class, show enthusiasm and am a pleasure to have in class. I want to be a Nurse and plan to start college Fall of 2018. I prefer a school on the East Coast. I aspire to make the Dean's list as a student and to be the best lacrosse player I can be.
