Indonesia to Launch Electronic Visa on Arrival, Payment Gateway to Support G20

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Directorate General of Immigration has completed the Electronic Visa on Arrival (eVoA) system and is currently testing it, along with the payment gateway system. Immigration director-general Widodo Ekatjahjana said that the eVoA and payment gateway system will be inaugurated next Wednesday, November 9, a week before the G20 Summit.

"All efforts and coordination related to this system will be carried out as well and as quickly as possible to support the G20 Summit, as well as to answer the needs of the global community planning to go on a vacation or have a business meeting in Indonesia," Widodo said in a press release, Thursday, November 3.

According to Widodo, foreigners participating in the first eVoA trial will arrive on Friday 4 November at 22:40 at Soekarno-Hatta Airport. He expressed his wish that foreign tourists can also start making use of the Electronic VoA service starting next Wednesday.

The Electronic VoA implementation is carried out gradually by prioritizing Visa on Arrival services at the immigration checks of Jakarta's Soekarno-Hatta Airport and Bali's I Gusti Ngurah Rai. For the initial stage, the e-VoA can be accessed by foreign nationals from the 26 countries that use the most VoA.

VoA holders must pay Rp500,000 for a permit to stay up to 30 days in Indonesia, which they can extend for 30 more days at any immigration office. Just like the e-Visa, the e-VoA is valid for 90 days after issuance/payment.

In addition to eVoA, a payment gateway system will also be applied to the Visa Online web-based application, visa-online.imigration.go.id, in order to break down bottlenecking in the billing code payments that foreigners often experience after applying for a visa.
