Katherine Schoessow's Softball Recruiting Profile
Personal Statement
I have been playing fastpitch softball since I was nine years old and have developed a serious passion for the game, especially pitching. I have been active in a variety of different sports (such as gymnastics, dance, horseback riding, downhill skiing) but have decided to concentrate on fastpitch softball.
After I finish high school I would like to be a pitcher at the college level. My dream is to find the right college where I can combine an excellent education with my passion for fastpitch. Outside of school and softball, I enjoy listening to music and singing contemporary songs, being around animals, fishing, and Green Bay Packers football. I also enjoy staying physically fit by following a kick-boxing program, and I am developing an interest in cooking.
I have learned a lot through softball besides winning and losing. I have learned the value of teamwork, competition, how to handle stress, working hard to achieve goals, supporting my teammates when they struggle, and managing my time. While I am not the most vocal person, I have learned that I can motivate my team by remaining calm, confident, and focused in the circle (even when facing a superior team) and performing at a high level with every pitch. I may not have the highest pitch velocity but I am very confident with my accuracy, spin and pitch variety – batters have a very difficult time barreling up on my pitches.
Through hard work, and learning how to ask for and accept help, I have persevered through significant learning disabilities and attention deficit disorder. I am achieving my goal of being on the honor roll in high school. My best subjects are science-related and my favorite is biology. In college I want to major in some field of science.
I am a very happy person with a quick smile and a great attitude - I love being me!
