Kevin Eastman murderer- Scott Sessions and Heather Frank’s fateful night

In February 2020, Kevin Eastman murderer of Scott Sessions, a musician, and local band member, shocked the Fort Collins community in Larimer County. 

Scott was found dead near Old Flowers and Pingree Park streets, around forty miles west of the city, with his body partially burned and nearly decapitated. 

Investigators soon discovered that his death was not an isolated incident and that it was linked to the killing of Heather Frank, a single mother-of-three who had met Scott at a Blues Jam concert a few weeks earlier.

The investigation revealed that Sessions and Frank had gone on a date on February 8, 2020, and that he had informed his father before leaving that he was going to meet someone. 

The same day, Kevin Eastman, Frank’s ex-boyfriend, visited her apartment and learned about her plans to meet Scott. 

Eastman was known to be volatile and had a history of violence, and authorities believed that he had become jealous and angry at the plot of Frank dating someone else.

On February 10, a snow plow driver found Scott’s body beside a flaming log, wrapped in construction-grade plastic sheeting, near a mountain road.

He had suffered severe injuries to his neck, and his spinal cord was detached.

They soon found evidence of a significant pool of blood near Frank’s front door, indicating that the murder had taken place there. 

Frank was missing, and authorities began to suspect that she had been abducted or killed by Eastman.

As the investigation unfolded, authorities discovered that Eastman and Frank had attempted to cover up Sessions’ murder by moving his body to a remote location and setting it on fire.

They had also disposed of evidence and lied to investigators. However, more than their efforts to conceal the crime were needed, authorities could track their movements using phone records and GPS trackers.

On February 16, Heather Frank’s body was found at a property belonging to Eastman’s employer in Weld County. 

She had been shot twice in the chest at close range and was wrapped in the same kind of plastic sheeting used to cover Scott’s body.

Eastman was spotted at the property before that day and caught at a nearby gas station.

In July 2022, Eastman was convicted on two counts, each of first-degree murder, manipulation with a dead human body, and tampering with physical evidence. 

He was sentenced to two life sentences except for the probability of parole, with an additional 27 years in prison.

The verdict brought some closure to the families of Sessions and Frank, who had endured months of uncertainty and grief.
