When Love is Blind season 1 was released in 2020 many of the cast members quickly became fan favourites such as Lauren Speed and Cameron Hamilton and now in 2022, season 2 is here and it seems that the same thing is happening again.
Judging by Twitter, Iyanna McNeely has a huge fan base since the launch of season 2 on February 11th, as does Shake’s mom. Some viewers have been scratching their heads since Shayne Jansen mentioned that he’d love to wear a tux cape on his wedding day in Love is Blind’s second batch of episodes, so let’s find out more about what he means…
Shayne reveals the one thing he wants on his big day
Rather than opting for a regular suit or a traditional Tuxedo, Shayne Jansen said during Love is Blind season 2 episode 6 that the one thing he wants on his wedding day is to wear a “tux cape“.
Shayne described the item of clothing to his fiancé, Natalie: “It’s like a lord from England like they wear those like old school… It’s like a trench coat kind of thing but a Tuxedo.”
Natalie responded: “Oh my God, no… This isn’t Bridgerton… Having this conversation gives me heartburn“.
What on earth is a tux cape?
Despite Shayne’s attempt at describing what a “tux cape” was, he probably meant that he wants to wear a tailcoat on his wedding day.
A tailcoat is described in the Cambridge Dictionary as follows: “an old-fashioned type of man’s coat, waist-length at the front and with the lower half of the back divided into two pieces”.
A tailcoat and a Tuxedo are totally different, according to Moss Bros, “morning suits or tails” is the “most traditional dress code” if you’re asked to “dress in morningwear” at a wedding.

Love is Blind fans are confused at Shayne’s tux cape request
Judging by Shayne’s tux cape comments, he wants to have a wedding day of grandeur. He did say he wanted “the biggest wedding in the entire world” but Natalie didn’t seem impressed.
Viewers were also confused at Shayne’s request with one person tweeting: “Once Shayne described a tux cape, my first thought was HELL NO“.
Another said: “Not Shayne saying he wants to where a “tux cape” I can’t“.
Some seemed up for Shayne’s choice of wedding outfit, though: “I actually would love to see Shayne’s tux cape“.
