Mayflower Family Tree
Mayflower original families are known to have 35 million descendants around the globe as of today. Many well-known personalities are also part of the lineage.
Public figures such as Christopher Reeve, Hugh Hefner, Marie-Chantal, Bing Crosby, Franklin D Roosevelt, and George HW Bush have traced their ancestry to Mayflower.
Mayflower last names and the first moniker of the passengers from whom the line of descent began are as follows:
1. Alden
John Alden of the Alden clan was a single man and was recruited to be a cooper in the voyage. In circa 1623, he tied the knot with Priscilla Mullins one of the passengers in the Mayflower.
The pair shared ten kids together. They had four sons and six daughters named John, Joseph, Jonathan, David, Elizabeth, Sarah, Ruth, Rebecca, Mary, and Priscilla.
The patriarch of the Alden household was a signer of the Mayflower Compact. He is also known to serve as an assistant to the Governor of the town.
The head of the Alden household took his last breath on September 12, 1687.
2. Allerton
Issac and Mary Allerton along with their three children Bartholomew, Mary, and Remember were the passengers.
Issac and his wife got married in November 1611 in Leiden, Holland. They were in marriage for nine before Mary passed away in February 1620/21.
The head of the Allerton clan was one of the first five signers of the Mayflower Compact and was also known to serve as an assistant to Governor William Bradford.
Issac was said to be the colony's agent who made several trips to London for the purchase of supplies and to negotiate the agreements.
He remarried circa 1626 to his second partner named Fear Brewster and had two kids Sarah and Issac Jr.
After Fear's demise circa 1633, he remarried a widow named Joanna Swinnerton in New Haven.
Issac passed away in February 1658/59.
3. Billington
John Bellington his spouse Elinor and sons John Jr and Francis traveled on the Mayflower with other families.
The patriarch of the Bellington clan was a signer in the Compact. He is also known to commit the first crime in the colony willful murder of John Newcomen.
After his execution in 1630, Elinor married a guy named Gregory Armstrong. In June 1636 Elinor was guilty of slander.
4. Bradford
William Bradford the head of the Bradford household traveled along with his wife Dorothy but left their five-year-old son John behind.
Sadly, Dorothy passed away by accidentally falling overboard while the ship was anchored off Cape Cod Harbor in December 1620.
Later, he remarried Alice Carpenter and shared three kids William Jr, Mercy, and Joseph together.
During the 1623 land division, William received 3 acres of land. Bradford was elected as the Governor of the colony after the demise of the first Governor John Carver.
William passed away on May 9, 1657.
5. Brewster
William Brewster traveled on the Mayflower with his wife Mary and sons Wrestling and Love. Brewster left his other three kids Jonathan, Patience, and Fear behind.
When William was 14 years old he attended Peterhouse College at Cambridge University. He also worked as a secretary to William Davison and went on a diplomatic mission in the Netherlands with Davison.
Brewster founded a printing press along with Edward Winslow and Thomas Brewer in Leiden.
The patriarch of the Brewster clan took his last breath on April 10, 1644, at Duxbury.
6. Brown
Peter Brown was a bachelor during the voyage. It is known that the Brown and Mullins household were neighbors of Dorking.
He received a single acre of land as per the division of land notes. Brown was first married to Martha and share two daughters Mary and Priscilla.
Martha also has two children named John and Martha Ford from her previous marriage.
Peter's second marriage was with a woman named Mary. They had a daughter named Rebecca and their second child passed away at a young age.
Peter passed away during the epidemic in 1633.
7. Chilton
James Chilton the head of the Chilton clan was a tailor by profession. James was with his wife and daughter Mary on the ship.
Sadly, James and his spouse didn't survive the first winter. The couple had ten children: Mary, Jane, Isabella, Elizabeth, Joel, James, Ingel, Christian, Mary, and James.
Mary the survivor of the first winter married John Winslow and had ten kids together.
8. Cooke
Francis Cooke and his wife Hester had seven kids Jane, John, Elizabeth, Jacob, Hester, Mary, and an unnamed child.
Francis and his son John traveled on the Mayflower in 1620 leaving other members of the Cooke household. Three years later, Cooke's wife along with their children Jacob, Jane, and Hester followed on the Anne.
Cooke was one of the signers of the Mayflower Compact at Provincetown Harbor. He was provided with four acres of land.
9. Doty
Edward Doty was a servant to the passenger Stephan Hopkins on the Mayflower. It is known that Doty was originally from London.
Edward was married twice, the name of his first spouse is unknown. He then married a woman named Faith Clarke. Doty and Faith were parents to nine kids: Edward, John, Thomas, Samuel, Desire, Elizabeth, Issac, Joseph, and Mary.
Edward took his last breath in August 1655 at Plymouth.
10. Eaton
Francis Eaton was with his wife Sarah and son Samuel on the ship. Sadly, Sarah didn't survive the first winter.
Eaton raised his infant son on his own until 1623. He married his second wife Dorothy who became Samuel's step-mom.
As per the 1626 document, Francis had another partner named Christian with whom he has three kids Rachel, Benjamin, and an unnamed child.
11. Fletcher
Moses Fletcher was originally from Sandwich, Kent, England. Fletcher traveled alone on the ship leaving his wife and kids behind to join him later.
Moses was first married to Mary Evans with whom he had ten children named John, Mary, Catharin, Prescylla, Richard, Elyzabeth, Moyses, Jayne, Judith, and Moses.
After the demise of Evans, Fletcher tied the knot with Sarah Denby in 1613.
Moses lost his life during the sickness of the first winter.
12. The Edward Fuller Clan
Edward Fuller was baptized at Redenhall, England. Fuller was with his spouse and son Samuel when he traveled on the Mayflower.
Unfortunately, Edward and his partner lost their life during the first winter. Their 12 years old son was later taken by his uncle Dr. Samuel Fuller.
13. The Samuel Fuller Family
Samuel Fuller was the brother of Edward Fuller. The Fuller siblings traveled together on the ship and they were accompanied by Samuel's servant William Butten who lost his life at sea.
Samuel was first married to Alice Glascock, second to Anna Carpenter, and third to Bridget Lee.
He was a self-taught physician who helped people in Plymouth, Salem, and Charlestown.
Samuel passed away in 1633.
14. Hopkins
Stephen Hopkins was on the ship with his second wife Elizabeth, and kids Gilles, Damaris, and Constanta. Stephen's partner was pregnant during the travel and gave birth to a son Oceanus.
The Hopkins were also accompanied by their servants Edward Keister and Edward Doty.
Mayflower was Stephen's second voyage to New World since he traveled back in 1609.
Hopkins became a valuable person during the settlement as he had connections and experiences in Jamestown. He served as the assistant to the Governor.
Stephen passed away in July 1644.
15. Howland
John Howland was from Fenstanton, Huntingdonshire. Howland traveled as a servant of John Carver during the voyage.
Later on, John became head of a group of 13 people and later served in several designations such as Assistant to the Governor, Deputy, Grand Juror, Selectman, and Surveyor of highways and land.
Howland was married to Elizabeth Tilley and had ten children Desire, John, Hope, Elizabeth, Lydia, Hannah, Joseph, Jabez, Ruth, and Issac.
16. The More Family
There were four kids on the passenger list of the ship that included four kids without parents. The children were known to have royal ancestry from King David I and King Edward I of England.
They were Elinor, Jasper, Richard, and Maria. Richard was the only one who survived the first winter.
Later, it was identified that the parents of the kids were Samuel More and Kathrine More. It is known that Kathrine was unfaithful to Samuel with a guy named Jacob Blakeway.
Since Samuel didn't want another man's child so he placed the four children on the ship.
17. Mullins
William Mullins was originally from Dorking, England. Mullins traveled with his wife Alice and kids Priscilla and Joseph on the ship.
They were also accompanied by a servant Robert Carter. Priscilla only survived the first winter and spring.
18. Priests
Degory Priest was alone on the voyage as he left his wife Sarah and their daughters Sarah and Mary behind. Sadly, Priest passed away during the general sickness of the first winter.
In 1623, Degory's family came over on Anne to Plymouth.
19. Rogers
Thomas Rogers traveled on the Mayflower with his son Joseph. Sadly, Rogers passed away during the first winter.
Thomas was married to Alice Cosford and they were parents to Thomas Rogers Jr, John Rogers, Elizabeth Rogers, Margaret Rogers, and Joseph Rogers.
20. Samson
Henry Samson was a 16 years old teenage boy when he traveled on the ship. Henry was accompanied by his uncle Edward and aunt Agnes.
Samson served in numerous positions after the settlement such as juror, surveyor, tax collector, and constable. He also volunteered in Pequot War.
Samson tied the knot with Ann Plummer in 1636 and had nine children with her.
Henry passed away on December 1684.
21. Soule
George Soule traveled as a servant to Edward Winslow. George was originally from Tingrith, Bedford, England.
Soule was in the matrimony with his partner Marie Bucket. They had nine kids Zachariah, John, Nathaniel, George, Susanna, Mary, Elizabeth, Patience, and Benjamin.
George passed away at Duxbury between 1677 and 1678.
22. Standish
Myles Standish and his wife Rose traveled on the Mayflower together. Unfortunately, Rose didn't survive the first winter.
Later, Standish tied the knot with Barbara in 1623. They had seven kids Charles, Alexander, John, Myles Jr, Lora, Josiah, and Charles.
It is known that Myles was chosen as the Captain and later as the Assistant to the Governor.
He passed away on October 1656.
23. Tilley
John Tilley traveled with his spouse Joan and daughter Elizabeth on the Mayflower. Sadly John and Joan passed away during the first winter, and Elizabeth was the only survivor.
The Tilley couple had other kids named John Jr, Robert, and Elizabeth.
24. Warren
Richard Warren left behind his spouse Elizabeth Walker and five daughters and traveled alone on the Mayflower. Warren received two acres of land in the 1623 land division.
Richard was part of the early explorations of the Cape Cod in search of a suitable place for a colony.
25. White
William White was accompanied by his wife Susanna, son Resolved, and two servants William Holbeck and Edward Thomson on the Voyage.
White's wife gave birth to their son Peregrine while still on board. Sadly, Willia didn't survive the general sickness during the first winter.
26. Winslow
Edward Winslow was originally from Droitwich, England. Winslow was accompanied by his wife Elizabeth and three servants Elias Story, Ellinor More, and George Soule on the voyage.
After the demise of his first partner, he married Susanna White whose husband had passed away in the great sickness. Edward and Susanna had four children Edward Jr, John, Josiah, and Elizabeth.
Edward was one of the members of the group that explored Cape Cod and was the first person to interact with the Wampanoag tribe.
Winslow was elected as the Governor of Plymouth numerous times. Unfortunately, he passed away in 1655.
