Motel One Glasgow Hotel Review, Scotland
Motel One is known for offering design on a budget, and its Glasgow outpost does not disappoint. A big, open-plan lobby area is dotted with teal and white fluffy armchairs, animal-print rugs, vintage suitcases, wireflow lights and, of course, the signature ‘Egg chairs’, designed exclusively for the brand by Arne Jacobsen.
There is a Scottish railway theme, with a screen showing live train times on the wall. To one side is the bar, a spacious area with sculptural lamps, leather sofas and large-format photos of the West Highland Line by Dalziel + Scullion, graduates of The Glasgow School of Art. More nods to the area can be seen in the industrial steel and brass workbenches, earth-toned walls, tartan chairs, coffee-table books on Scotland and fluffy sheep dolls.
