Kante Comments on Future
Monday, June 6
“I am a Leicester player. For now, I have not taken a decision even if I have been made offers," Kante said, per Anthony Chapman of the Sun:
It will be great to play in the Champions League. I will decide my future after the Euros.
I do not pay too much attention to everything that is said. For now, I am in Leicester and I focus on the Euros.
I think that my season at Leicester surprised everybody. People liked to see a new Premier League champion. We had a magnificent season and then my debut with France went well.
Kante Linked to Chelsea, PSG
Sunday, June 5
According to beIN Sports' Serie A correspondent Tancredi Palmeri, Chelsea are in "advanced talks" to recruit the France international, although he'll wait until after 2016 UEFA European Championship to make a final decision.
Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas and Nemanja Matic failed to recapture their finest form last season as the club made a limp run to 10th in the Premier League, resulting in John Obi Mikel's resurgence in central midfield.
PSG Considering Kante
Sunday, June 5
Bleacher Report's Andrew Gibney sourced French newspaper Le Parisien on Sunday and reported the Ligue 1 champions are ready to offer their target a five-year deal and match his release clause.
Even if the Foxes do sell, they stand to make a major profit from his sale, but suitors will also consider his €25 million (£19.6 million) release clause a major bargain, per the Mirror's James Nursey (h/t Jack Lang).
PSG have the advantage of being able to offer UEFA Champions League football, and Bleacher Report's Jonathan Johnson suggested his head is being turned toward Paris:
Jonathan Johnson @Jon_LeGossipLatest meeting with LCFC's N'Golo Kante reportedly happened last week. PSG have offered a 5-year contract. Kante "more & more" open to move.
PSG are sure to offer Chelsea steep competition in the hunt for their target, considering the French champions have similar financial muscle and are able to offer the added extra of Champions League football.
Kante Becoming Coveted Target After 2016 Success
Kante's links to Chelsea and PSG came just two days after BBC Sport reported Arsenal had met the £20 million release clause of Leicester striker Jamie Vardy, and it appears the Foxes are in serious danger of losing their top stars.
However, Kante may rightly be looked upon as an upgrade on any of those considering his box-to-box proficiency for the Foxes last term, and Squawka illustrated his defensive dominance in particular as he accumulated 125 tackles.
The midfielder's form has been rewarded with his first call-ups into Didier Deschamps' France squad of late, and Kante is now set to feature for Les Bleus in their home European Championship.
Although his release clause will remain irrespective of how he performs at Euro 2016, it could be a wise bargaining move to hold off on sealing a switch until after the tournament.
The Daily Star (h/t Lang) reported Leicester are eyeing Southampton's Victor Wanyama as a replacement for their midfield general, encouraging speculation Kante could soon head for the King Power Stadium exit.
