Nashville Shooting Victims – Remembering The Lost Lives

Nashville shooting victims were identified as Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs, William Kinney, Cynthia Peak, Katherine Koonce, and Michael Hill.

Among the victims were three young students, aged nine and under and three staff members – a custodian, substitute teacher, and school administrator.

The school head, the custodian who loved his job, and the substitute teacher were highly respected school community members. The police have confirmed that the victims were all targeted randomly. 

On Monday, a tragic shooting occurred at The Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee, resulting in the death of seven people, including the suspected shooter. 

This incident has deeply impacted the families and the community, and investigations are ongoing to determine the motive behind the senseless act of violence.

William Kinney was a 9-year-old who studied at The Covenant School. Details about her parents and family remain unknown. 

Evelyn Dieckhaus, a third-grader, was one of the victims of the shooting that occurred at the school. 

The Tennessean newspaper reported that during a church service held just hours after the shooting, a senior minister shared that Evelyn Dieckhaus was a 9-year-old kid.

The girl’s older sister, who is in fifth grade, reportedly cried during the service and said, “I don’t want to be an only child.”

Hallie Scruggs was a 9-year-old student at the Nashville private school. She was born to Chad Scruggs, who was a senior pastor at Covenant Presbyterian Church, as revealed by the church officials. 

Dr. Katherine Koonce, aged 60, was identified as the Head of the School, according to the Covenant School’s website. She was highly regarded by parents and staff members alike. 

One parent said she was a “saint” who went above and beyond for the students. She knew every student by name and would do anything to help them, regardless of their financial situation.

Dr. Koonce believed the school’s mission was to help children become who God intended them to be, not just educate them. 

She was also an accomplished author, having written a book titled “ParentiAccording to investigators, Michael Hill, 61, worked as a custodian at the Covenant Schoolng the Way God Parents: Refusing to Recycle Your Parents’ Mistake.”

 Dr. Koonce had a master’s degree specializing in learning, behavior, and attention difficulties and had over 18 years of experience in the field.

Cynthia Peak, aged 61, was a substitute teacher working at the school on the day of the attack.

Michael Hill, 61, worked as a custodian at the Covenant School, according to investigators. 

One woman who identified herself as Hill’s daughter on Facebook stated that he loved working at the school. 

Tim Dunavant, a pastor at Hartsville First United Methodist Church, also posted on Facebook, saying that he would miss receiving “encouraging texts out of the blue” from Hill. 

Dunavant, who had previously worked at the Covenant School and had hired Hill more than 13 years ago, added that he wouldn’t be surprised if Hill had given up his life to save others, as he was the type of person who would do so.
