Personal Statement

My swimming career started out different than most. When I was in 5th grade my dad forgot to sign me up for baseball, with no other sports to do my grandma suggested I join the swim team and the rest is history. 

Other than sports, I enjoy spending time with friends and family. I am also a very active member in my church. I volunteer frequently and have even been on a mission trip, and plan on attending another one soon. I also participate in 4-H, showing cattle.

The story of my high school career in swimming is also different. My school does not have a pool, so we travel 30 minutes away to a YMCA and only practice 3 times a week. We practice from 7:30 to 9:00 and get back around 10 at night. Only practicing 3 days a week in high school has lead me to join a YMCA team where I practice the other 2 days at. 

Swimming is a passion unlike any other sport I play, and it brings me immense joy to be in the pool.
