Over 3,600 Security Personnel On Stand-by for U-17 World Cup in Solo

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The FIFA U-17 World Cup tournament in Solo, Central Java, will receive security support from a combination of personnel from the National Police, TNI, and a number of other related elements. A total of 3,616 personnel are ready to be deployed to secure the international football championship.

Central Java Regional Police Chief, Insp. Gen. Ahmad Luthfi, said the officers must guarantee the safety of the matches held in Solo for the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup.

Ahmad Luthfi stated that security was comprehensive, including training grounds, stadiums, spectators, players, and accommodation in each participating country. All security personnel have previously received training and are ready to maintain security and public order.

"The security measures that we carry out are also based on FIFA's recommendations. It is ensured that the implementation of security is carried out humanely and proportionally," he said at Solo's North Square in Central Java, on Thursday, November 9.

He said that the training conducted beforehand ensured that each officer understood that carrying out their duties successfully was a matter of pride for the good name of Indonesia as a nation. He also appealed to the people of Solo City to be good hosts.

"Let us watch this international event becoming a stepping stone for Indonesia, particularly Central Java, and more specifically Solo, by becoming a good host and becoming a spirit for international and Indonesian football," he said.

The 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup will start from Friday, November 10 to December 2. Solo is co-hosting the football tournament with three other cities in Java: Jakarta, Surabaya, and Bandung.
