Pastor Earnest Lee Sawyer Sr. – Metropolitan Funeral

Pastor Earnest (a.k.a. Tickey) Lee Sawyer, Sr, 70, was called into eternity on September 20, 2021.  He was born June 11, 1951 in Norfolk, VA and raised by Adell Delores Sawyer-Hubbard and Frank Ernest Sawyer.  He married the love of his life, Mrs. Regina Levie Sawyer (predeceased), and from their union; they were blessed with seven children.

Pastor Sawyer served the Lord in many capacities but his passion was serving as Founder and Pastor of Kingdom Fellowship Center, 1016 Crowell Ave, Chesapeake, VA.  There he could be found preaching the Word of God, counseling & nurturing God’s flock and teaching with passion God’s Holy Word.  You see, he was truly a “walking bible” and share the Word of God with whosoever would listen.  Earnest was a hard working man in life.  He was employed and retired from Virginia Power; he also worked at Fleet Forces Command, Norfolk VA as a Custodial Supervisor.  Many have shared how he always greeted with a smile and showed kindness whenever you saw him.

He is survived by his children; Antrown Sawyer (Vanessa), Deborah Sawyer Carmack (Joe), Lisa Sawyer, Daniel Sawyer (Angelia), Adam Sawyer, Earnest Sawyer, Jr, and Samuel Sawyer; nine grandchildren (9) – JaQue Sawyer, Essence Sawyer, Timya Sawyer, Eleese Sawyer, Jakiera Carmack, Jaydin Sawyer, Jaylin Sawyer, Janiya Sawyer and D’Amour Sawyer; one (1) great grand – Eries Sawyer.  His siblings, Deborah Simmons (Vanderbilt), Andrew Joyner (Brenda), Anthony Joyner, Sandra Joyner, Angela Bryant, Tonia Bryant, Thomas Bryant, Timothy Bryant, Selma Holloway, Tony Bryant (pre-deceased) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

We celebrate Pastor Sawyer’s life and thank God for him.  Father, we pray that You will comfort, strength and keep us in the hours when grief, despair and doubt seem to overtake us.  Lord, in spite of our human condition and circumstances, we will ultimately trust you and submit to your will.
