Ronaldo Gets Most Followers on Twitter

TEMPO.CO, Brasilia - The most awaited football championship 2014 World Cup will be coming in one more week and fans are starting to flood the social media with posts or tweets regarding their favorite players or teams. Mashable reported that the football players have also collected millions of followers on their Twitter accounts.

"Many players of the sport have gathered millions of their own followers, such as Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo, who is the most followed FIFA World Cup player on Twitter with 26.5 million followers," Mashable wrote on their website.

Ronaldo is dominating the social media attention, double of that of Neymar Junior from Brazil, who becomes the second most-followed football player.

Sitting on the third place on this social euphoria phenomena is England’s striker, Wayne Rooney, with 8.8 million followers. Players who occupy the rest of the top ten are those from Spain and Brazil. Both teams become the most favorite to be the 2014 world champion.
