Personal Statement

My name is Sam Mayer and I am a 5'8/160 lb. rising Junior at Severna Park High School, Severna Park, MD. I just completed my sophomore season, playing Varsity Lacrosse as a defensive midfielder.  As a team, we won the Anne Arundel County 4A Championship and finished as Regional Runner-Ups.  I logged significant playing time in all 18 of our regular season/playoff games as a defensive midfielder on a team heavily domininated by upperclassmen.  Playing strictly defensive middie, my scoring opportunities were limited; however, I hope to contribute significantly more offensively over the next 2 years of high school.

Since a young age, I've dreamed of playing competitive DI lacrosse beyond high school; however, DII and DIII are definitely options I would welcome should the right opportunity arrise. I plan on pursuing a degree in either Business Administration or something related to Sports Medicine and would like to attend a school with both a strong academic and athletic reputation.  Preferrably, I would like to remain on the East Coast close to my family and hope to attend a small to moderately sized university located in a well established college town. My desire to continue playing lacrosse beyond high school is strong enough that I will gladly consider all opportunities that present themselves.
