Shiba Inu Gaming: The Most Ambitious Meme Coin Project To Date?
2021 was the year of the meme coin.
After the success of dogecoin, many developers decided to launch tokens of their own, with many assuming the power of the Internet would help them take off.
Modeled after the beloved Japanese dog breed, Shiba Inu (SHIBA) quickly rose through the ranks as a coin to be reckoned with.
As of today, Shiba Inu is valued at $0.000037, and has a 24-hour trading volume of $1,774,083,804.
The developers of the Shiba Inu token recently announced the network would be launching its own gaming platform, becoming the latest coin to expand within the metaverse.
About Shiba Inu Gaming
The Australian video game developer, PlaySide, announced that it would be the official development team behind Shiba Inu Gaming in a press release.
The company stated it had agreed to a work-for-hire contact with Shiba Inu.
Gerry Sakkas, CEO of PlaySide, said:
“PlaySide continues to demonstrate its capability to partner with leaders across a range of fields within interactive entertainment including leading influencers and global gaming brands. To add a new games client that has emerged from the popular NFT, token and decentralised cryptocurrency industry is very exciting for us.”
As per the contract, the company will be responsible for the game’s production and design, as well as overseeing any additional features of the in-game universe.
Sakkas has said he expects the process to take approximately eight months, hoping the game will officially launch in early 2023.
Unlike other cryptoverse games, Shiba Inu Gaming is not a virtual universe. Instead, it is supposed to be a multiplayer card collecting game where players battle with cards – but digitally.
Development of the game will focus on the token’s Shiboshi NFT coin and will also feature strategy and battle mechanisms with collectible cards.
Shiba Inu’s card game is expected to be released on multiple platforms. However, sources report that the fixed-price contract prevents PlaySide from sharing revenue from the game debuting on non-Shibaverse platforms.
Many were under the assumption that cards could only be purchased using SHIBA coins, but CoinMarketCap revealed that Shiba Game tokens were officially in circulation.
The Shiba Game coin is valued at $1.60, and this has risen 2.74% in the past 24 hours.
No details have been provided about the gaming experience, but Shiba Inu investors are curious to see what happens.
PlaySide has been clear about being paid in USD, not in the SHIBA token. The company will not participate in trading or selling Shiba coins while under contract.
Shiba Inu coin holders have high hopes for the development of the game, citing PlaySide’s reputation for high-quality graphics and speed as a plus point.
In addition, the SHIBA team has brought veteran game designer William David Volk onto the project.
Volk, the former VP of technology at Activision, was delighted to join the team, saying:
“I am honored to be working with an amazing team on what will become one of the most significant games of all time.”
Volk has been at the helm of the advancement of video game technology, and his claim to fame lies in the development of the first CD-ROM entertainment project, ‘The Manhole’, back in 1989.
This went on to become one of the best-selling CD-ROMs of its day, paving the way for new video game companies to make the industry as immense as it is today.
With Volk’s decades of research and tangible results, Shiba Inu Gaming has the potential to become one of the world’s leading cryptoverse gaming platforms in the near future.
How Did Shiba Inu Surge?
Despite the unpredictability of the market, it appears as though SHIBA’s surge was not unexpected.
The final quarter of 2021 was undeniably the happiest time for Shiba Inu users and investors.
After hitting an all-time high of $0.00008845 on October 28, the upward trend plateaued for some time while Bitcoin dealt with a significant crash at the end of November.
The token is currently trading almost 60% below the $0.00003597 high, although this has been attributed to crypto whales, taking the blame off Shiba Inu itself.
WhaleStats reported that Shiba whales sold over $400 million worth of tokens after the peak, altering its status in the crypto market.
The current performance has been clocked at 11.36%, outperforming the three major competitors: Bitcoin, Dogecoin, and Ethereum.
Increased interest in the SHIBA token was generated due to the recent announcement that AMC theatres would accept Shiba Inu coins as payment.
CEO Adam Aron tweeted in October:
“Attention #SHIBArmy: Our friends @Bitpay decided to support Shiba Inu specifically because I asked, so AMC can take Shiba Inu for online payments of movie tickets and concessions. @AMCTheatres to be the first @bitpay client to accept Shiba Inu. Timing 60-120 days. This is a WOW!”
Tech mogul Elon Musk has also expressed his support for the Shiba Inu coin, a fact that has been heavily discussed by crypto analysts.
Musk had previously revealed that Dogecoin would be accepted to purchase Tesla merch, but it appears as though his newfound affinity for the other meme token will result in yet another popularity contest between the two.
Shiba Inu Price – What Does 2022 Have In Store?
Shiba Inu is predicted to trade at a maximum of $0.000084 and rise to $0.000033 by the middle of the year.
Analysts expect this to remain steady enough to achieve a September maximum of $0.000093.
By the time Shiba Inu Gaming rolls around, many predict that the original coin may hit just $0.0001 in January 2023.
These claims are certainly not unfounded, as developers have been clear about their goals for the next couple of years.
Alongside the gaming platform, SHIBA’s development team is working on two other flagship tokens, called $LEASH and $BONES.
The team is in the process of releasing SHIBSWAP, a crypto exchange platform that will make it easy to buy, sell and trade SHIBA tokens.
Shiba Inu is also looking to form a scaled-down blockchain to ease some of the pressure on Ethereum, calling it Shibarium.
The blockchain will host the Oshiverse metaverse, where Shiba Inu Gaming will be hosted.
