UFC's Sedriques Dumas Arrested on Battery Charge; Posted Videos of Police Altercation | News, Scores, Highlights, Stats, and Rumors
UFC middleweight fighter Sedriques Dumas was arrested in Florida and charged with battery on Tuesday.
Per Escambia County Jail records obtained by TMZ Sports, Dumas was booked at 6:13 a.m. local time.
TMZ noted official details of Dumas' arrest weren't immediately available, but video posted on his Facebook page overnight appeared to show him getting into a verbal argument with "several" law enforcement officials hours before he was booked into jail:
"In the footage, it looks like Dumas was clearly upset with at least one member of the Escambia County Sheriff's Office ... who had told him they had been called out over 'a disturbance.'
"Dumas repeatedly asked the officers questions before he told one, 'I'm beyond f--king pissed ... I'm just walking to blow off steam and she want to come at me and tell me I'm disrupting?'
"The mixed martial artist and the police then went back and forth for several minutes ... before one of the officers told Dumas they had received a call regarding a woman who had said 'her boyfriend was banging on the door and ringing the doorbell.'"
Dumas earned a UFC contract in August 2022 when he defeated Matej Penaz 47 seconds into the first round of a middleweight bout on Dana White's Contender Series.
The 28-year-old made his official UFC debut in March 2023, losing to Josh Fremd via submission in the second round of a preliminary bout on a Fight Night card.
Dumas had two more fights after the Fremd bout last year, both victories. He most recently defeated Abu Azaitar via unanimous decision at UFC 294 on Oct. 21.
Prior to joining the UFC, Dumas was a street fighter in Florida. He turned pro in 2020 after signing with iKon Fighting Federation. He went 6-0 with iKon, American Kickboxing Academy and Gamebred Fighting Championship before getting an opportunity on the Contender Series.
Six of Dumas' nine career wins have come via knockout or submission.
