Victims identified in Canton stabbing

Canton police have identified two victims stabbed to death on Friday at an area apartment.

CANTON, Ga. -- Canton police have identified two victims stabbed to death on Friday at an area apartment.

Police said family had been notified that 23-year-old Omar Ruiz and his sister 27-year-old Antonia Ruiz were killed just after 1 a.m. Friday at Laurels at Greenwood Apartments in the 1200 block of Hickory Flat Highway.

When police arrived, they found Omar's body in the breezeway on the third floor of the building. Antonia was rushed to Northside hospital but was later pronounced dead as well.

The suspect in the homicide, 28-year-old Oscar Tierrablanca of Dallas, Ga. later turned himself into authorities.

Tierrablanca is charged with two counts of murder. He is being held in the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center.
