Shaun Aguano commenced his coaching career in Kauai where he initially worked as an assistant football coach.
He left Kauai in 1999 and moved to Arizona where he started working at Chandler High School as a wide receivers coach. He was shortly promoted as the offensive coordinator before taking up the position of head coach. He replaced the former head coach Jim Ewan who had retired after serving in the position for ten years from 2001 to 2010.
Shaun's term as Chandler High School's head coach is considered one of the most successful periods in the school's history. During his term, the high school won four state titles, including three consecutive titles in the last three years.
Aguano led the team for eight years before eventually moving on to Arizona State Sun Devils in 2019. His interview to join the team was taken by Herm Edwards which lasted a mere five minutes.
