Where Was Fawlty Towers Filmed

The 1972 comedy series, Fawlty Towers, will return to the screen after more than forty years. Creator John Cleese revealed that he is working to revive the show.

The Telegraph announced via Twitter on February 8, 2023, that the Fawlty Towers reboot will star John Cleese and his daughter Camilla.

Rob Reiner's Castle Rock Entertainment announced that a deal has been made with John Cleese to revive the hit series of the 70s.

It has been confirmed that the comedy-legend, John Cleese, would reprise his role of Basil Fawlty in this masterpiece remake.

A Famous Father-Daughter Pairing

Cleese's daughter, Camilla Cleese, will join him in the upcoming remake. This fresh addition will further elevate the series. Camilla is a famous stand-up comedian and actress.

The 83-year-old told the media that Matt offered the first idea of reviving the show during a meeting. After that, he had one of the most creative sessions with Matt and Camilla.

By the end of the night, the three came up with an excellent concept that won the approval of Rob and Michele Reiner. This opened the door of possibilities for the creators to expand the already famous series.

People who love comedy, know the quality Fawlty Tower offers on the table. The series gained overwhelming love and appreciation from the audience and critics alike when it first came to the screen.

Even the later generation can't help but talk about the genius of the Fawlty Towers.

This new series will explore how Basil Fawlty, an over-the-top, cynical, and misanthropic character, will navigate the modern world. The insights into the plot of the series have been largely kept under wraps.

Although, it is evident that the story centers around Basil's relationship with his long-lost daughter, whose existence he was unaware of. The father and daughter woo fate and team up to operate a boutique hotel.

Rob Reiner, Michele, Reiner, Derrick Rossi, and Matthew George will serve as the executive producer for the new series.

Previous Remake Attempts

Fawlty Towers was one of the most successful comedy series of all time. The fans wanted the show to continue but unfortunately ended its run after 12 episodes in two seasons.

In later years, many creators tried to re-create the magic of the Fawlty Towers, but none succeeded.

The show was remade three times in the US. Chateau Snavely was made in 1979, Amanda's came to the screen in 1983, and Payne aired in 1999. However, none of these shows stood the test of time.
