How many Blue Peter pets have there been?
In total, there have now been 24 pets that have featured on Blue Peter since it first launched in 1958.
This includes dogs, parrots, cats and tortoises.
The first ever pet was Petra the dog, who lived with presenters Peter Purves, John Noakes and Simon Groom respectively.
Throughout the years, the Blue Peter pets are looked after by an assigned Blue Peter pet-keeper or by one of the presenters – how cute is that!
Who is new Blue Peter dog, Henry?
Henry is a Beagle Basset Hound cross.
He is two years old and was adopted by Blue Peter from the British Dogs Trust.
Viewers will hear all about Henry’s upbringing during his debut on Thursday night (April 4th) as a small segment follows his journey from the rehoming centre and into the Blue Peter offices.

Who does Henry belong to?
It’s not believed that any of the presenters directly own Henry as their pet, although more info will be provided in Thursday’s (April 4th) episode.
Henry will likely go into the general care of Blue Peter when he’s not busy on air.
CBBC’s very own vet, Rory Cowlam, is likely to play a large part in looking after Henry.
That said, presenter Lindsey Russell could end up adopting Henry for more than just the one weekend sleepover having immediately fallen in love with the adorable dog.
Lindsay told the BBC:
Henry is such a friendly dog and I can’t wait to have him in the studio every week. He’s already met the crew, had a good sniff around, and seems to love it.
Pets have always been such an important part of Blue Peter and it’s so exciting to be welcoming the latest one to the show.
