William Stevens's Baseball Recruiting Profile
Personal Statement
My name is Will Stevens. I am 6’3” and I weigh 205 pounds. I have been playing baseball since age 4. I love to compete on the baseball field. My parents did not hold me back in Kindergarten, so I have always been the youngest in my class and on my team. Even though I was the youngest, I have always been among the biggest kids. I really started growing in the seventh grade. My pitching coach always told me my arm was a gift. I was not sure. I was a pitcher and catcher throughout my career until the 2017 club season. My freshman year at Park Hill High School (Kansas City, MO) I was chosen as catcher for the Jr. Varsity team. I played pitcher and catcher for my club team in 2016. My sophomore year at Park Hill I made the varsity team as a catcher, and earned a varsity letter.
I have always been a strong bat in the lineup, primarily driving the ball for singles or doubles. When not on the mound during the spring 2017 club season, I was used as a designated hitter. My experience as a catcher has made me a significantly better pitcher and hitter. It has improved my understanding of the game, my eye for the ball, and my communication with players on the field. When I am out of season, I work with a trainer at Boost Sports Performance (Liberty, MO) to enhance my athleticism.
I am extremely motivated to play baseball in college. I have consistently taken advanced placement (AP) and honors classes in high school. I am aware that there is excellent baseball to be played in all divisions of the NCAA, and I am open to all levels of play. I am looking for an environment where I can continue to grow under experienced coaches, while playing a high level of competitive baseball.
I am open to any size school. I plan on making many college visits, so I am flexible at this time. Geographically, I am interested in attending school in the Midwest. If the right opportunity presented itself, I would choose the school that sported the best coaches and most competitive baseball regardless of the location.
I appreciate your time and attention. Wishing you the best of luck in the upcoming baseball season.
