Zelda BOTW How to Farm Star Fragments

Star fragments are a consumable item you can pick up in Zelda: Breath of the Wild. They are pieces of falling stars, and can be used for upgrading armor and in cooking recipes. While you can find them in chests, they can also periodically fall from the skies. In this guide, we’ll show you how to farm star fragments in Zelda Breath of the Wild.

Star Fragment Farming in BOTW

The star fragments are a useful component in Breath of the Wild. You can use them in cooking recipes to give bonuses to the meals you prepare, adding them extra value. It’s not a bad way to earn some extra rupees (if you’re having trouble with that, you can check out our guide on how to farm rupees in BOTW). However, you can also use the fragments at the Great Fairy Fountains to upgrade your armor. The only issue is, how to farm them easily?

Thanks to GameFAQ user lukewindwalker, we might have an answer. Get to high ground (Dueling Peaks, Mount Agaat, or some such place). Once you’re up there, save the game, then quit the game. Restart it, then start a campfire at your vantage point and wait for a full moon. A shooting star should appear at some point of the night. Go and pick up the star fragment, go back to your vantage point and repeat the process as many times as you want.

When going to collect the fragment, bear in mind that you’ll only see where the star fell. There’s a good chance that the actual star fragment might have rolled away, so look around. Also, while this system does appear to work, one player has reported that it worked twice in a row and then stopped, so the system might not be infinitely repeatable.
