Personal Statement

Dressing for the game, taping my wrists, lacing up my cleats, putting pine tar on my grip, and grabbing that first handful of dirt is what I live for, because I know what's coming. Taking the field with my teammates is pure happiness. Baseball is my first love and I will never stop improving my game physically and mentally. I have enjoyed working very hard because my Dad taught me that "the only way to find out how good you can be, is to try." So I truly enjoy being in the gym and practicing on the field and I am really looking forward to continuing to grow and play at the next level. I have a lot of faith in my ability and I know I can play and I am not afraid of anything. I am an excellent athlete, and I started varsity shortstop my freshman year and will carry that position for all four years. I also started varsity football as a freshman playing running back, and strong safety. My sophomore year I was promoted to Quarterback, and I mention this because I feel it shows some of my other characteristics like responsibility, leadership, integrity and determination. I have let go of all my other sports to concentrate full time on baseball. Baseball is my first love and I can't wait to be on the ball field. I have worked very hard in the classroom, taken extra SAT courses, and prepared myself to do whatever it takes to continue playing. I am very blessed to have a great family, my brother is also an awesome athlete so there is a lot of ribbing at our house, but my parents have encouraged me to open my eyes and understand that there are many great opportunities in life. So, I feel confident and ready to go out there and make something special happen whether it is with my life or on a ball field. It has always been my dream to take the field on the next stage, and I have the support to go wherever that may be.
