Isabella Costa's Women's Soccer Recruiting Profile

Personal Statement

Being a starter on varsity my freshman year of high school was not always the dream people assume it to be. I was constantly being compared to past players and wanted to make the rest of my team proud and always perform the best that I could. As a junior, I was given the role of captain which is found rare because most of the time it is given to seniors. I had to step up for my team and be a leader and help direct them into bettering not only the team, but as individuals as well.

The biggest thing that has shaped me into the player I am today was coming to the realization that starting spots are never given to anybody, no matter how much talent they may possess. I had learned this the hard way during my club season. The new season began and I was starting on the bench without much playing time. That really woke me up and helped me come to terms with the fact that every time I step onto the field, whether for a game or practice, I have to work for a starting spot every time.
