The Utah Jazz added one of the most high-profile and recognizable names in all of college basketball from this past season when they selected Duke big man Kyle Filipowski with the No. 32 overall pick of the 2024 NBA draft on Thursday.
Bleacher Report Draft Expert Jonathan Wasserman's Scouting Report
Player: Kyle Filipowski
Position: PF/C
Height: 7'0"
Pro Comparison: Santi Aldama
Scouting Report: Filipowski improved his stock this year by showing growth in key areas, specifically his passing, physical finishing and shot-blocking. It's still worth questioning his ability to create, but 7-footers who can space the floor, set up teammates from the post and slide their feet well defensively are rare and valuable.

Few, if any, players were more recognizable going into the 2024 NBA draft than Filipowski, who starred at Duke this past season and helped lead the Blue Devils to the Elite Eight.
He averaged 16.4 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.5 blocks and 1.1 steals per game while shooting 50.5 percent from the field and 34.8 percent from deep. While he isn't going to be Stephen Curry at the next level from the outside, his ability to at least space the floor somewhat will help him immediately carve out a role in the NBA.
Filipowski also drastically improved in that area after hitting just 28.2 percent of his three-pointers in his first collegiate campaign.
The big man leaves Duke with a college resume that includes a consensus All-American selection, ACC Rookie of the Year, ACC Tournament MVP and two All-ACC selections. That type of production surely caught Utah's eyes during draft preparation, and it reacted accordingly with this selection.
Now Filipowski will look to build an impressive resume at the NBA level.
