Lloyd Harold Tucker – Metropolitan Funeral
On Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at the age of 71, in the comfort of his home, Lloyd Harold Tucker peacefully went home to be with our Lord. Harold’s struggle was over, and his battle victoriously won! He was born on February 19, 1950, to the late James M. Tucker Sr. and Hazel V. Tucker in Norfolk County, Virginia. He attended Crestwood High School and later became a student at Deep Creek High School in Chesapeake, VA. During his youth, Harold was baptized and became a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Chesapeake, VA. In 1967, he joined the United States Marine Corps and completed training as an Infantry Assault Marine in Parris Island, SC. In 1968, he deployed to Vietnam and was injured during his tour of duty in combat. As a 100% disabled veteran he received several honors: Purple Heart Award, Vietnam Service Medal, Navy Presidential Unit Citation, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation, Combat Action Ribbon, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
After completion of his military service, he attended Tidewater Community College, where he obtained his graduate certification in Automotive Analysis and Repair in June 1982. Harold was employed at Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, VA and Naval Supply Center in Norfolk, VA.
He enjoyed his friends, especially the fellowship of people, which was a great source of joy to him. He encountered many people and touched many lives with his unique ability to make people smile and his willingness to help others. Anyone who was an acquaintance of Harold, personally knew that he had many lives, ran the streets, and skirted the lines of danger.
Yet, his proudest achievement was when he finally gave his life to God. He became a Deacon at Victory Life Fellowship in 2011, was commissioned as an Elder for Christian Way Ministries in May of 2016 and was baptized a second time in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit on Sunday, July 10th, 2016. If Harold desire those who knew him to gain one thing from his life, it would be to “Be Bold and More Christ-Like!”
Harold is preceded in death by his parents, James M. Tucker Sr., and Hazel V. Tucker; his son: Harold Anthony “Tony”; (3) brothers: Benjamin “Benji”, David “David Dog”, and Frederick “Freddie”.
Harold leaves to cherish his precious memories: his former spouse of more than 30 years, Juanita A. Tucker, his son; Jon (Fermico), (3) daughters; Dynisha, Dayna, and Britani Martinez (David). Grandchildren; Javon (Scottie), Jasmine, Jonathan, To’nee, Tamia, Christian, Elijah, De’quan (Paige), Justice, Sincere, Asia, Dairean (Samantha), and Daymien “Isaiah”. His siblings; James Jr., Dorothy Gibson, Janet “Jay” Nelson (Fred), Lue Veatrice Tucker, Victoria “Vicky” Copeland, Yvonne Barnes, Gwen Richardson (Nate), and Harriet Vanderpool (Grant); along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
