Luke Brown, Jr. – Metropolitan Funeral
Luke Brown Jr. (Hammer) departed this earthly life and entered into his eternal home with the Heavenly Father, on Sunday, September 11, 2022.
He was born in Nansemond County, Suffolk, Virginia on October 23, 1941 to the late Luke and Nancy Brown Sr. He is also predeceased by his grandmother, Mary Lee Newsome from Suffolk, VA., Also, his Aunt Louise Knight of Suffolk, VA.
He was the oldest child from their union. Luke was a faithful Deacon at St. Phillips Holiness Church since 1969 in Suffolk until he wasn’t physically capable to attend anymore. Luke attended school in the Suffolk Public School system. He joined the Army in 1966 and completed two years of service.
Luke previously worked for Planters. He retired from Craney Island as a painter. After retirement, he worked at Home Depot for approximately nine years.
He was a supportive husband, father, and grandfather. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 34 years, Mrs. Frances L. Brown; sons, Troy Brown, Jermane Brown, of the home in Portsmouth and Jerry Sinkfield of Portsmouth; daughter, Chenita Brown Beamon of Portsmouth, stepsons, Bryant Lewis (Monique), Tilmon Alexander; and stepdaughter Tracie Pettus (Ralph) of Tampa Florida; eleven grandchildren, Brianna, Tilmon Jr., Elijah, Isaiah, Diynah, Olyvia, Jaiannah, Marcus, Malcom, Bryce, and Kannan; brothers, Herbert Brown (Alberta), Moses Brown, Robert Taylor(deceased), James Newsome (deceased); sisters and brothers-in-law; Bessie Kee Newsome of Suffolk, Margaret Taylor of Maryland, Doris Johnson of Greensboro NC., Evelyn Scandrett (Cecil) of Daytona Beach, FL., Mary Kee (Sharon S. C.), Pastor Mary Kee (Rev. Cal B.) of Portsmouth VA., Rev. Myrtle Kee of Suffolk VA., Aunts, Betty Jones of Portsmouth VA., and Irene Gaynor. Special friends of the family, Evangelist Virginia Parker, Kenneth Bell, Frank Hall and Gladys Knight . Luke’s fishing buddies; Roland Elliott, Cynthia Griffin, Floyd Bazemore, Jeffrey Jones, and Darryl Benton. Also, a host of other relatives and friends.
