Maraea O'Connor's Women's Volleyball Recruiting Profile
Personal Statement
Aloha!
My name is Maraea O'Connor and I am a 6'0" Opposite from Hilo, Hawai'i. I graduated in 2015 from Kamehameha Schools Hawaii, and am currently in my sophomore year at Western Nebraska Community College, where I play as an opposite. Last year, during the 2015 season, I was the starting opposite and we finished 2nd place at the NJCAA D1 Volleyball Championships. I believed junior college ball has helped my game tremendously and has groomed me into being a smarter and tougher player. In August 2016, during our first pre-season tournament on the road, I tore my ACL and meniscus while playing in a game. I got my surgery done in late September and I am currently on the long road to recovery but working tirelessly to get myself back to the court as soon as possible and stronger than ever. I am going to have a medical redshirt, meaning that I will have three years of eligibility at my next transfer institution.
In spring 2017, I will be graduating with my AA in General Education, but hope to major in Environmental Science/Studies/Policy at my transfer school. Overall, I am aiming to work in Environmental law or research.
