Personal Statement

Hello my name is Matt Bergman, I am a Senior in Cook Minnesota. I am a 6 foot 1 1/2 inch 210 pound fullback and linebacker and I run a 4.8 40 yrd dash. So far in my career I have been named honorable mention all-conference, team defensive player of the year, and team MVP as a sophomore. In my junior year I earned all-conference honors and was named offensive player of the year for my team. In my senior year I recieved MVP Running Back for my conference, All conference, and defensive player of the year for my team. I have led my team in tackles every year. I feel I can offer a team a hard nosed player who does not mind doing the dirty work, as a fullback I never ask for more carries, I know it is my job to give a good lead block to open the hole for the half back. The only time I really want the ball is on short yardage situations, I love smashing through the line to get the tough yards we need for a first down. You will be getting a very coachable, team-oriented player who will do anything for the better of the team and will never stop working to improve. I feel I can also provide leadership as I have been named team captian and you will also be getting a player who has a great passion and understanding of the game. I would like to stay in the Mid-West for college but am open to going wherever I am wanted. I am open to playing at any size school D2 and up that can give me a good education. I am looking at going into marketing with a sports business minor. I hope to be able to play at the highest college level I can and I know I will make a positive impact on any team I am on.
