Early Life & education

Matt grew up in Michigan and graduated from Columbia Central High School in Brooklyn, Michigan, in 1989. 

After completing high school, he pursued his dream of becoming an exceptional welder and enrolled at Holbert Welding School in 1990. 

The school equipped him with the necessary knowledge and skills to succeed in his chosen field.

In 2002, Matt returned to Oak Ridge to be with his family.

Career and success

In Oak Ridge, Matt established himself as a highly-skilled welder within the local community.   

His exceptional welding abilities, combined with his efficiency and prompt project completion, earned him a reputation as a reliable professional. 

Matt was known for his conscientious work ethic, and his clients deeply valued his expertise and dedication.

Personal interests

Matt was a man of diverse interests.

He had an insatiable passion for motorcycles and found solace in riding along the open roads. 

He also had a deep love for fishing and often spent leisurely hours casting his line into the Great Lakes. 

Additionally, Matt had a talent for preparing mouth-watering BBQs, captivating the taste buds of those lucky enough to sample his culinary creations. 

His ability to entertain and bring joy to others made him a life of social gatherings.

Family and friends

Matt is survived by his wife, Brittney Fry Boone, and his stepdaughter, Nyla Whalen.

He shared a close bond with his parents, Scott and Lisa Boone. 

His sister, Jennifer Boone, his niece Rylee Hughes, and his loyal canine companion, Cash, were also integral parts of his life. 

Matt cherished his friendships, and his absence will be deeply felt by his dear friends Rocky Thompson, Dave Thomas, Whitey, “Mojo,” and John Boes.

A Celebration of Matt’s Life will be scheduled at a later date, allowing family and friends to come together and honor the life of a man who touched so many. 

Matt was known for living life to the fullest and loving his family and friends wholeheartedly.

His unexpected departure has left an immense void in the hearts of many.
