After eight seasons in the NFL, running back Mike Davis is retiring from football.

The 31-year-old announced his retirement on social media Monday afternoon, offering thanks to the teams he played for while reflecting on his career.

"As I turn 31 today, I sit back and look on my NFL career and how thankful I am to be apart of a brotherhood," Davis wrote on X. "This game has allowed me to make a lot of friends and memories. I'm grateful for every organization in NFL. With that being said I'm retiring!"

Davis, who was drafted in 2015, played for the San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks, Chicago Bears, Carolina Panthers, Atlanta Falcons and Baltimore Ravens. Davis' last year was in 2022 with the Ravens. He did not suit up in 2023.

Davis was a standout in college at South Carolina, racking up 2,440 yards and 22 touchdowns in his time with the Gamecocks from 2012 to 2014. He was taken in the fourth round of the 2015 NFL Draft by the 49ers and became a reliable option in the backfield throughout his career.

He recorded 2,052 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns on the ground and notched 1,066 receiving yards and four touchdowns through the air. His best season came in 2020 with the Panthers, when he picked up 642 yards and six touchdowns on the ground and 373 yards and two touchdowns as a receiver.

Davis signed with the Ravens ahead of the 2022 season but was released in December, marking his final season in the NFL.
