Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Ricardo Lockette underwent surgery to stabilize his neck after being hospitalized for a concussion. Lockette suffered the injury following a hit from Jeff Heath on a punt return in the second quarter against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 8. He will not play again this season and has been placed on the injured reserve.
The Seahawks announced Lockette had successful neck surgery on Nov. 2 at the Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. He was released from the hospital on Nov. 5

"Ricardo is up and walking," Ricardo Lockette's father Earl Lockette said, per TMZ. "He's really energetic and looking forward to rehab as the next step. Lockette has had "no setbacks" and is "up and moving around," according to Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times.
On Nov. 2, the Seahawks stated "his neurological signs are all positive."
The Seahawks confirmed Lockette's surgery was to stabilize the ligaments in his neck. The release noted he has "full motion and feeling in his extremities" and that "his prognosis is good."
Carroll Comments on Lockette's Injury, Future

Head coach Pete Carroll said on his 710 ESPN Seattle appearance that "there's no way" Lockette will return this season. As for Lockette's future in the league, Carroll said he didn't know if it was a career-ending injury, according to Condotta.
Despite the lack of clarity regarding Lockette's career, Carroll said he talked to the wideout's father, who told him Lockette is in "good spirits," per 710 ESPN Seattle's Brady Henderson.

Lockette Suffers Concussion

Lockette was immobilized and placed on a stretcher before he was carted off, but the good news is he was able to move his hands. According to SportsCenter on Twitter, Lockette could pump his fists and direct a finger toward the sky on his way to the locker room.

After halftime, the Seahawks said Lockette had movement in his limbs and suffered a concussion.
The on-field ramifications of Lockette's injury feel secondary to his health after the wide receiver appeared to lie motionless on the field for several minutes following the hit. As the Seattle Times' Bob Condotta noted, Seahawks players rushed onto the field after Lockette hit the turf.
