At the same time, she was also in an abusive relationship with wrestler Alberto del Rio. The WWE took action by suspending him and giving Paige another chance.

In a public announcement on Twitter, Paige’s mother revealed that she needed to undergo neck surgery. 

Unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse when Paige was suspended by the WWE twice for substance abuse. 

She claimed that the drugs were necessary to manage the pain caused by her neck injury and upcoming surgery.

During a tag team event on December 27th, Paige suffered another injury to her neck after being kicked by Sasha Banks. 

The match was halted by the referee due to the impact. As a result, she had to miss the Royal Rumble in 2017.
