Sha'Carri Richardson failed to qualify for the Olympics in the 200-meter after finishing fourth at the U.S. Olympic track trials on Saturday.

Richardson got off to a strong start and remained near the front coming around the turn, but she fell behind down the final stretch as Gabby Thomas won with a time of 21.81 seconds. Brittany Brown and McKenzie Long finished in second and third, respectively. Richardson finished the race in 22.16 seconds.

After coming up short in the 200-meter, Richardson will only get the chance to compete for an individual gold medal in the 100-meter, though she will also compete with the women's 4x100 relay team.

Though she would have liked the chance to compete in the 200-meter, the 100-meter is Richardson's bread and butter and she will travel to the Olympics as the favorite after winning the world championship last August.

Richardson posted a championship-record time of 10.65 seconds in last year's world track and field championships, and she'll be looking for similar results at the Olympics this year.

She will have some stiff competition in Paris next month, mainly the Jamaican team that won gold, silver and bronze at the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo. The United States has not had a runner win gold in the 100-meter since 1996, but Richardson will be looking to change that this year.

Likewise, Richardson and the women's 4x100 will be looking to beat the Jamaican team after finishing behind them for silver at the 2021 Olympics.

There will be no 200-meter race for Richardson at this year's Olympics, but she'll still be looking to leave her mark in Paris.
