St. Louis Rams vs. San Diego Chargers: Live St. Louis Score and Analysis | News, Scores, Highlights, Stats, and Rumors

Despite a dreadful first-half performance by the St. Louis offense, the Rams managed to take a 10-3 lead thanks to a pick six by Janoris Jenkins. The Rams entered halftime with a four-point lead, but it did not last.

San Diego entered the third quarter totally re-energized and ready to play. The Chargers scored two touchdowns in 20 seconds at the beginning of the half and took a commanding 20-10 lead in no time.

The Rams offense finally got rolling late in the game and began to answer back. Tavon Austin rushed in a six-yard score and Stedman Bailey caught a seven-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.

St. Louis trailed San Diego by only three points with just minutes left in the final quarter. The Rams made a big stand on defense and forced a Chargers punt with under two minutes left in the game.

Austin returned the punt for a touchdown, which appeared to give the Rams the lead, but officials inexplicably threw a flag for a non-existent penalty, which wiped out the return. The NFL will certainly be taking a long look at that play come Monday, but the flag did not totally kill the Rams. Quarterback Shaun Hill marched the offense downfield and hit Kenny Britt with a 27-yard strike that brought the ball inside the San Diego five.

With no time for San Diego to answer back and with the Rams sniffing the end zone, it appeared St. Louis was about to secure a dramatic victory. Instead, Hill did the absolute worst thing any quarterback can do in that situation—he threw an interception.

Even if the Rams fell short of the end zone, a short field-goal would have sent the game into overtime. But Hill made a blind, careless throw that cost the Rams the game.

The Rams will host the Oakland Raiders a week from now and attempt to forget this loss. The Chargers will travel to Baltimore and attempt to overcome a tough Ravens team.

Thank you for following along, and be sure to stop by next week.
