Zeus Rocancourt's Men's Basketball Recruiting Profile

Personal Statement

ALL-LEAGUE 2015, 2014 NYCAL; Most Outstanding Player, 2015; Best Offensive MVP 2015, 2014; NYSAIS Quarterfinal Player of the Game (C Division), 1000 point Club, (1008 points since Calhoun sophomore inception). ALL-LEAGUE 2015, Soccer NYCAL:

I have played basketball in the streets, recreation centers, parks and leagues since I was a little kid of 5 years in New York. Ever since my sneakers first touched the hardwood floor I fell in love with the game of basketball. I would wake up at 6am everyday during the school year to get shots up before the sun would rise, go to school, and then spend countless hours playing pick up or organized ball in various courts throughout the year. Coming into my freshman high school year I was a 6 ft lanky basketball player with barely any game IQ. I made NYC LAB MUSEUM UNITED 9th Grade School's varsity basketball team. In 10th grade, I transferred to the Calhoun School on scholarship, where my game began to flourish. I immediately became a starter and led the team in scoring (11ppg) in a very challenging season where my team was unfortunately eliminated in the first round. During that summer I trained with my personal trainer and coach, Brian King, who I've known since age 12 and he has helped me transform my game. I came back, 6'3" 163 lb. my junior year and led the Calhoun Cougars to a 3rd seed Conference Title, averaging 22 ppg and ultimately winning All League Honors (ISAL-NY) and Cougar's Offensive MVP.  My favorite quality of my game is how my level of competitiveness and heart come into play at the end of a close game. Especially my junior year, I would constantly find the ball put in my hands for the final possession and I would feed off of the crowd and the pressure and I would turn into a cold blooded killer. I lived for clutch moments at the end of the seaso I came through for many big shots that gave my team a fighting chance. In one of my favorite games I've ever been a part of, we beat the League's top team, Trevor Day, in a nail biter where I hit a pull up three down 5 with 5 seconds to put us within reaching distance. Later on I was put on the line in a tie game and hit one free throw to win the game. All my intangibles really start to shine once the game is on the line and I invite you to come see this in my upcoming season.  My team and I will be a force to contend with this senior year.  I look to continue my growth as a focused student and a team basketball player at the collegiate level.  I offer the versatility of a guard in a 6'3" 178 lb. frame with a deadly 3 point shot, excellent handle of a point guard, good vision, above average rebounder for my size, a crafty defender, and an ability to attack the basket fearlessly and relentlessly. My main goal coming off this 2013-14 season is to put on muscle and sharpen my skills. Thank you for your consideration.
